The Extract! is intended for light duty search over moderately sized text databases. Some of its major characteristics are:

• Very fast performance so your users find what they want fast.
• Boolean keyword searches to facilitate detailed searches
• Case (in)sensitivity to help or restrict your searches
• Paginated results no one wants to scroll through their results!
• Customizable appearance so your search results fit in with the rest of your site.
• Language neutrality the results statistics are reported in the language of your choice (pending available language files).

We provide three sample textual databases for this demo. The first one contains information about some figures and facts about and Annual Events held in the Thousand Oaks area, the second one contains some important City of Thousand Oaks phone numbers, and the third one contains a number of periodical abstracts.

You may wish to browse the events database , the facilities database, and the periodical database first, then pick a few key words (separated by a space) and enter them in the following search form to get a feel for extract's performance and capabilities. Note that hyperlinks (and graphics too!) can be embedded in your textual databases, as shown in the first database and the new teddy bear picture database.
